Our Little Snowman

Why is is that every single time I tried to upload a few pictures from our Christmas photo shoot this weekend . . . :

* Blogger decided to take a vacation when trying to upload.

* My in-laws knocked on my front door (a half hour earlier than expected) as I prepared to push the 'upload pictures' button at my kitchen table on Friday afternoon.

* I had to keep switching to another 'window' in the evenings because my in-laws don't know I blog, and, well, I'd like to keep it that way. So I gave up.

* The telephone rang.

* A napping MF's eyes would pop open whenever I started to log in to Blogger. (It's like he has a sixth sense about it!)

Anyways, after what turned out to be a really nice weekend, which I will expand upon in a separate entry, I am finally able to sit down on our couch, put my feet up, and upload a few pictures from our Christmas photo shoot.

Now, it's very important to remember that I'm a total amateur and can't afford a real set or real photography assistants. Therefore, MF was required to take on a second job during our little living room photo shoots, that of Lighting Assistant.

Yes, it's true. Mama put me in charge of turning on the Christmas tree lights. I should demand more money! Or better biscuits!

I should also probably point out that MF is a lover of trees, so much so that he generously offered to take on a third job at our shoots, that of Christmas Tree Fertilizer. He seemed rather disappointed when I pointed out that our fake feather tree didn't actually require fertilization.

You'd think someone could have mentioned this to me before I embarrassed myself.

When we finally got down to business (of the non-fertilizing kind), MF insisted on taking a little time to acquaint himself with his co-stars, the reindeer (his co-star from last year) and the stuffed snowman.

Now remember, I'm the star and you two are the supporting actors. We'll get along just fine so long as you remember that!

Once we started shooting, MF thought he'd forgotten his lines.

Oops! I forgot my line! Wait, I don't have any lines! Mama? Does this mean I'm not eligible to join the Screen Actors Guild?

As the undisputed star of the photo shoot, MF knows he can make outrageous demands, like holding up production to play with his Bob-the-Builder phone.

Bob-the-Builder rocks!

MF also quickly figured out just how to drive his photographer (me!) slightly mad during our shoots: by making his supporting snowman play the chorus of Jingle Bells over and over and over again!

Watch this, reindeer! If I keep pushing the funny little snowman's belly like so, it drives Mama completely mad! ha ha ha ha ha!

But, at the end of the day, we got some really cute pictures. After much debate in the photo editing room (aka, 'the couch'), I give you this year's winning photo:

Ok, we're going to humor Mama now. Everybody smile!

Great results!

I have no shame. I actually had some cards from 12-04 that I never sent (before the birth of my second child), which I used this year.

Thanks for sharing, and for the behind-the-scenes expose into the world of top photographers and their models!!

Lovely! I am not as ambitious (or, it seems, as patient) as you, and we got ours done at a studio. Your post made me laugh!

Can't wait for next year's costumes. Yup costumeS plural. MF and little bro - will they have matching themed outfits; will Baby Boo be wearing MF's hand-me-downs; will there be rivalry between the top male baby models; will MF's ability to talk in 2007 and say "not again, Mommy!" mean his departure from the Christmas card circuit; or, will it just be an explosion of cuteness and brotherly love. I am betting it's the last one.
MF looks very happy posing though and the one of him laughing is so cute.

I guarantee that he'll be hiding these from his first girlfriend.

What absolutely adorable pics! Worth the effort of uploading, no?

These are adorable. Better than many "professionals" I've seen.

The fertilizer shot will be priceless to show to his first prom date.

HI. I came over from Frog and Toad after I saw your very cute picture of the lamb as your profile.
I really like this entry for your Christmas pictures. As a wannabe photographer with no time to practice, I tried taking the Christmas portrait at home this year. My major problem was trying to get my subject to sit in one spot long enough to take a picture. That must be the one good thing about taking them to the studio--they are scared enough to sit in one spot.
Cheers!

Thank you for the Christmas card.

Now, I have my very own print of a snowman to weather me through hot weather!
